A reflection of the post-war Case Study movement & the introduction of Mid-Century Modern architecture – this single level iconic design was created in 1956. The original rectilinear massing of the design was complemented by shallow, cross-gabled roofs with deep eaves – design concepts popularized by the Utopian homes introduced by Frank Lloyd Wright. The interior is flooded with natural light from walls with large windows & sliding glass doors which open to a private courtyard & an expansive backyard. Batten siding & concrete exterior design features draw attention to the clerestory windows & provide privacy to the street facing elevations. While the architecture has been meticulously preserved, the home has been thoughtfully updated to include harmonious modern amenities. The interior building materials & design features unfold with characteristic hardwood floors, slate tile, two fireplaces, floating shelves & characteristic built-in’s. The ingenious kitchen re-design incorporates modern appliances, storage & functionality with fabulous entertaining, seating & cooking spaces – while remaining true to the original influences of the home. Down a central hallway, bedrooms unfold, serviced by functional bathrooms, (including a preserved & memorable green monster in the primary on-suite bathroom!).
